The 'Logues is REP Studio's flagship people's choice playwriting competition with multiple ways to get involved. You could write and submit a 10-minute monologue or duologue; or be a reader, performer or audience member in the Heats and Finals. What is The ’Logues?
The ’Logues is REP’s people’s choice playwriting competition. Playwrights submit original scripts for 10-minute monologues or duologues, which are then staged anonymously. Audience votes determine the winner. And yes, there are prizes!
How does it work?
There are multiple ways to get involved in The 'Logues. We need playwrights, readers, actors, lighting and sound techs, stage crew, ... and audience, of course! Read on to find out more about how you can become involved. If you have any questions, send us an email: studio@canberrarep.org.au

SUBMIT
Submissions are now open • CLICK HERE TO SUBMIT YOUR SCRIPT
Due Date 1 Sunday 21 January 2024 — closed.
Due Date 2 Tuesday 13 February 2024 — closed.
• Canberra residents aged 16* and over can submit an original, unpublished script
• Entrants may submit up to three scripts. Each script requires a separate entry form
• The ’Logues coordinators will review script submissions and allocate Heat dates
* for entrants under 18, entries must be accompanied by a note of parent/guardian consent
Script requirements:
• Maximum 10-minutes duration
• Monologue (one actor) or duologue (two actors) only
• All genres considered
• Any set, furniture, and prop requirements are to be simple and minimal

CASTING + REHEARSAL

Open auditions: early March 2024
Rehearsal period: March 2024
Finals production week: 1–7 April 2024
• Open auditions for all roles in the finalist plays will be held in early March 2024, after the Heats date TBA
• Actors will rehearse throughout March 2024. There is some flexibility in rehearsal schedules based on actors' availability
• Actors must be available for Finals production week 1–7 April 2024

FINALS
Performance 1: 7:30pm Friday 5 April 2024
Performance 2: Now 7:30pm Saturday 6 April 2024
Performance 3: 2pm Sunday 7 April 2024
• Ten scripts (two from each Heat) are staged in three public performances at the Finals
• Each script is allocated a director and actors who work together for a short rehearsal period
• All three Finals dates/times are the same performance
• The audience at each performance vote for their favourite scripts
• Audience votes are compiled over all three Finals performances
• Prizes are awarded and playwrights are revealed after the Sunday matinee
