Stage Manager • David Goodbody
Over the last few years David has stage managed quite a few shows for REP. On each occasion he has trotted out pretty much the same bio for the Program so he decided it was time for something different. During an undergraduate youth of dubious merit David stage managed several shows for Dublin University Players before taking a short, 25 year break from the theatre. Chronically underemployed when living in Jakarta, he ended up stage managing shows for Jakarta Players and rediscovered “the theatre bug”. On returning to Canberra a friend lured him into REP and now it takes two hands to add up the number of shows he has stage managed for REP. He is pleased to be working with Ed Wightman again having stage managed Ed’s production of Rope in 2021.
ASM • Mae Schembri
Mae joined REP as Constable O'Hara in Arsenic & Old Lace (2022). Since then, she has stuck around assisting as crew in several REP shows, including Properties for Crimes of the Heart (2023), and stage hand for Our Country's Good (2022), Home, I'm Darling (2023), and Bloody Murder (2024). Mae is very excited now to be learning about stage management from David Goodbody, after having worked with him on Our Country's Good. She is honoured to be a part of bringing Baby Jane to the stage for the first time with such an incredible cast and production team.
Set Coordinator • Russell Brown OAM
Russell has been a member of REP for over 50 years, and in that time he has been involved in almost every aspect from President to performing, set design to set building, props making, furniture making, and tricky effects. With his dedicated team of builders and painters, he whiles away his time making magic for our audiences. He was recently named REP Living Treasure for his many contributions to the Society.
Production Manager • David Bennett
David’s association with REP began in 1975, when he played Mitch in A Streetcar Named Desire. Since then, David has served as a Council member, Vice-President, and President of REP. In addition to his other roles on Council, he served as a member of REP’s Production Committee. He was the Production Manager for Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, Amadeus, and now Baby Jane. David has also continued appearing on stage winning REP’s Helen Wilson Award for his comic performance as Lenny in Rumors and a CAT Award as Best Actor in a Featured Role in a Play as Colonel Looseleaf Harper in REP’s Happy Birthday, Wanda June. David is a Life Member of REP.
Front of House • Elizabeth Goodbody
Elizabeth started her earliest career as a classical ballerina but went on to become involved in most aspects of theatre, both musical and non-musical, on- and off-stage, for over 20 years. She was out of the picture for over 25 years while on postings overseas, but returned to assist REP in various Front of House activities, including Coordinator and Front of House Council Liaison.
