PRODUCTION TEAM | LOW PAY? DON'T PAY!

David Goodbody | Stage Manager
During an undergraduate youth of dubious merit David stage managed several shows for Dublin University Players before taking a short, 25 year break from the theatre. Chronically underemployed when living in Jakarta, he ended up stage managing shows for Jakarta Players and rediscovered “the theatre bug”.  On returning to Canberra a friend lured him into REP to work on the stage crew of ???? That was in 2008.  Despite hiding out in Jakarta for another five years, it now takes fingers and toes to add up the number of shows David has stage managed for REP.  He is pleased to be working with Cate Clelland on this one.

Emily Backhouse | Assistant Stage Manager
Emily is thrilled to be learning the craft of stage management as Assistant Stage Manager for REP’s Low Pay? Don’t Pay!. Theatre runs in her family, so it was probably inevitable she’d find her way backstage. She’s previously been involved in community theatre and loves the organised chaos of live performance and the camaraderie it creates. By day, Emily is a Chief People Officer — a role that also involves managing dramatic personalities and tight deadlines (though usually with less glitter). She’s delighted to be part of this talented and lively REP production.

John Stead | Production Manager
John has had a varied involvement in theatre: acting, directing, lighting design, stage managing, and now production management for Low Pay? Don’t Pay! John returned to the stage with REP as the Naval Officer in Lord of the Flies and more recently as Dr Bradman in Blithe Spirit. Among his earlier acting credits for REP are: Tranio in Taming of the Shrew, Alan Strang in Equus, Lysander in A Midsummer Nights Dream, and Bernard in Death of a Salesman; for the Canberra Theatre Trust: Fred and the Spirit of Christmas Yet to Come in A Christmas Carol; for Canberra Philharmonic: Richard D’Oyly Carte in Tarantara! Tarantara! John has also performed on TV and radio. He is a great fan of McVitie’s Digestive biscuits, particularly the ones with dark chocolate.

Russell Brown OAM | Set Coordinator
Russell has been a member of REP for over 50 years, and in that time he has been involved in almost every aspect from President to performing, set design to set building, props making, furniture making, and tricky effects. With his dedicated team of builders and painters, he whiles away his time making magic for our audiences. He was recently named REP Living Treasure for his many contributions to the Society.

Elizabeth Goodbody | Council Liaison & Front of House Coordinator
Elizabeth started her earliest career as a classical ballerina but went on to become involved in most aspects of theatre, both musical and non-musical, on- and off-stage, for over 20 years. She was out of the picture for over 25 years while on postings overseas, but returned to assist REP in various Front of House activities, including Coordinator and Front of House Council Liaison.
